Certified by Cognia and MEC
The American School of Asuncion is accredited and certified by Cognia, a non-profit, non-governmental organization that accredits primary and secondary schools throughout the United States and internationally, and by the Ministry of Education and Sciences of Paraguay (MEC, by its initials in Spanish).
Accreditation is a voluntary method of quality assurance developed more than 100 years ago by American universities and secondary schools. The accreditation engages the school community in meeting high-quality standards, implementing a continuous improvement cycle, and engaging in quality assurance through internal and external review. A school's commitment to accreditation assures parents and the community that the school is focused on raising student achievement, providing a safe and enriching learning environment, and maintaining an efficient and effective operation. An accredited school adheres to high-quality standards based on the latest research and successful professional practices.
Recently, the Cognia Global Commission presented to The American School of Asuncion (ASA) with a certificate of accreditation by the North, Central Association Commission and School Improvement, the Northwest Accreditation Commission, and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Council on Accreditation and School Improvement, for having met the criteria for educational quality. All are based on rigorous research-based standards and evidence-based criteria. Therefore, Cognia's accreditation process probes the whole institution—from policies to learning conditions and cultural context. The certification is valid through 2029.
In addition, the American School of Asuncion also received a Cognia’s STEM Certification, as a recognition for all the programs and effective STEM focus the school performs. The American School of Asuncion is also a certified member of the American International Schools in the Americas (AMISA), which is a nonprofit organization, and membership-driven learning organization aiming to enhance the quality of international education.
