Tolerance Week: Middle School Embraces Diversity Through Guaraní!

This week, the Middle School's Guaraní Department collaborated with the Culture and Climate Committee to celebrate the International Day for Tolerance with all 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students.

During this week, the Guarani classes specifically focused on the diversity of religious practices within the ASA community to promote mutual understanding, respect, and tolerance among all members of the institution.

The main objective of this initiative was to raise awareness about the rich diversity of world cultures, as well as the multiple forms of expression and the diverse ways of being human, in line with the principles promoted by UNESCO.

Middle School Guaraní teacher, Liliana Gaona, made a valuable contribution by translating the educational material on tolerance—developed by the Culture and Climate Committee—into Guaraní. Using this bilingual resource, a theoretical and practical lesson was developed where students reflected on the concept of tolerance, its application in daily life, and its importance within a diverse community.

Following the theoretical discussion, students participated in a creative activity: they designed bilingual posters (in Spanish and Guaraní) that powerfully represented their ideas and messages about tolerance. Displaying these posters in the classroom successfully fostered dialogue, exchange, and appreciation for the diverse perspectives expressed by the students.

This experience strengthened not only their Guaraní language skills but also fundamental values such as respect, empathy, and the appreciation for cultural and religious diversity—all essential pillars for harmonious coexistence within the school community.

Esta semana, el Departamento de Guaraní de la Escuela Media colaboró ​​con el Comité de Cultura y Clima para celebrar el Día Internacional de la Tolerancia con los estudiantes de 6º, 7º y 8º grado.

Durante esta semana, las clases de guaraní se centraron en la diversidad de prácticas religiosas dentro de la comunidad del ASA para promover el entendimiento mutuo, el respeto y la tolerancia entre todos los miembros de la institución.

El objetivo principal de esta iniciativa fue crear conciencia sobre la rica diversidad de las culturas del mundo, así como sobre las múltiples formas de expresión y las diversas maneras de ser humano, en consonancia con los principios promovidos por la UNESCO.

La profesora de guaraní de la Escuela Secundaria, Liliana Gaona, realizó una valiosa contribución al traducir al guaraní el material educativo sobre tolerancia, desarrollado por el Comité de Cultura y Clima. Con este recurso bilingüe, se desarrolló una lección teórico-práctica en la que los alumnos reflexionaron sobre el concepto de tolerancia, su aplicación en la vida diaria y su importancia dentro de una comunidad diversa.

Tras la discusión teórica, los estudiantes participaron en una actividad creativa: diseñaron carteles bilingües (en español y guaraní) que representaban de forma contundente sus ideas y mensajes sobre la tolerancia. La exhibición de estos carteles en el aula propició con éxito el diálogo, el intercambio y el aprecio por las diversas perspectivas expresadas por los estudiantes.

Esta experiencia fortaleció no solo sus habilidades en guaraní, sino también valores fundamentales como el respeto, la empatía y el aprecio por la diversidad cultural y religiosa, pilares esenciales para la convivencia armoniosa en la comunidad escolar.
