Global Issues Network (GIN) Community service
Global Issues Network (GIN) is a student group formed with the primary purpose of collecting paper for recycling. Once a week, approximately 10 students fan out across the campus with bags in hand to collect waste paper from every office and classroom on the ASA campus. Weekly collections can run up to 50 kilos of waste paper per week.
Their plan for this year is to run a publicity campaign to reduce single-use plastic bottles on campus, as well as other possible initiatives to reduce the carbon footprint of our campus. For some reason, the GIN students overwhelmingly support reducing the number of tests teachers give as a means to reduce paper use. GIN has recycled paper now for more than 6 years and is a permanent part of ASA'S community service program.
