Elementary Reading Week

The Week of April 10th to April 14th our Elementary students and teachers celebrated Reading Week. We kicked off the event with a Read-a-thon, where students and teachers read from 8:00 am to 3:30pm. On Tuesday, Guest Readers came into our classrooms to read to our students. We had parents, grandparents, older siblings, aunts and uncles, Principals and even our Director General reading in classrooms. On Wednesday, students and teachers dressed-up as their favorite Book Characters and we ended the day with a fun parade. On Thursday, we had a Spotlight on the Author in the Library. Our first grade teacher, Veronica Abente, author of several Children Books spoke to students about writing books. The week ended with a Book Fair in the Library on Friday. We all had a great time enjoying and promoting reading. "Today a Reader, Tomorrow a Leader."

Semana de lectura en Primaria

La semana del 10 al 14 de abril nuestros alumnos y profesores de Primaria celebraron la Semana de la Lectura. Comenzamos el evento con un maratón de lectura, donde los estudiantes y maestros leyeron de 8:00 am a 3:30 pm. El martes, Lectores Invitados vinieron a nuestras aulas para leer a nuestros estudiantes. Tuvimos padres, abuelos, hermanos mayores, tíos y tías, directores e incluso nuestro Director General leyendo en las aulas. El miércoles, los estudiantes y maestros se disfrazaron de sus Personajes de Libros favoritos y terminamos el día con un divertido desfile. El jueves conocimos a verdaderos autores en la biblioteca. Nuestra maestra de primer grado, Verónica Abente, autora de varios libros para niños habló a los estudiantes sobre cómo escribir libros. También Ingrid Diaz y Nabila Jure, autoras de libros infantiles, estuvieron charlando con los alumnos en la biblioteca. La semana terminó con una Feria de Libros en la Biblioteca, el viernes. Pasamos muy bien disfrutando y fomentando la lectura. "Hoy un lector, mañana un líder."
